From Washington quits her job to search for lost dog and finally finds her after 57 days
What would you do if you lost your beloved pet? Would you resign to crying and mourning after searching for a few days? Or would you pause your life until you found your precious pooch or kitty? That’s exactly what one woman who lost her border collie did. Carol King, from Washington, quit her job to dedicate her time to finding seven-year-old Katie.

Postal worker Carol and her husband were on a romantic getaway to Montana and decided to take Katie with them when the unthinkable happened. When they went out for dinner one stormy night, the thunderous sounds scared Katie who had been left at the hotel. She somehow found a way to escape the hotel premises, sparking a frantic search from her owners and the staff. A search around the hotel vicinity went on until the early hours of the morning but to no avail. Soon, days turned into weeks but Carol never gave up hope. And on day 57, the lengthy searches were worth it as Katie was finally found.

She explained to local news group Daily Inter Lake: ‘It was devastating. I got sick to my stomach. I never gave up. I never lost hope.’ When Carol couldn’t find Katie in the hotel, she suspected that the doggo had run out because she was scared by the thunder. A hotel clerk helped Carol put the word out on Facebook where others also shared the news. During the search which lasted weeks, kind strangers put out flyers, spreading the news as far as they could. Some even prepared meals for Carol who stayed in Montana to find the pet. Then one day last week, a man called Carol saying he’d spotted a canine that fitted Katie’s description in the Country Estates neighbourhood in Montana. Carol immediately went over to see but by the time she arrived, the dog had already fled. Not easily deterred, Carol and her team of helpers amped up their search, handing out flyers to passersby.
